This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect the information you provide when using our website and app (collectively, the "Service"). The Service allows users to upload meal recommendations and generate shopping lists.
We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). By using our Service and agreeing to this Policy, you consent to the practices described below.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you create an account or provide it, we collect your name and email address.
Meal and Shopping Data: When you upload meal recommendations or generate shopping lists, we collect the content of those uploads (e.g., suggested meals, ingredients, and resulting shopping lists).
We do not collect any health, medical, dietary restriction, or sensitive personal information.
2. How We Use Your Information
To Provide the Service: Process your uploads and generate shopping lists for you.
Account Management: Manage your account and respond to your inquiries.
Email Marketing and Newsletters: We use your name and email address to send you occasional emails about our Service, updates, tips, newsletters, and promotional content related to meal planning and shopping lists.
To Improve Our Products: We may use anonymized meal recommendations and food preferences (stripped of any link to your name or email) to analyze trends, improve recommendations, and enhance the Service for all users.
You can unsubscribe from marketing and newsletter emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in the email or by contacting us.
3. Anonymization and Data Use
Your meal recommendations and food preferences are linked to your account so we can improve the quality of the Service for you. When we analyze broader trends to improve our products generally, we use this data in aggregate. We are committed to never selling, renting, or distributing your personal information to any third parties.
4. Sharing and Disclosure of Information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your name or email with advertising third parties. If you choose to shop with the Instacart® service, the grocery items you select (generic product names only — never your name or email) are transmitted to Instacart to build your cart; Instacart then handles retailer selection, checkout, delivery, and pricing under its own privacy policy and terms. We may also use trusted service providers under strict confidentiality agreements to operate the Service, and may disclose information where required by law.
5. Security
We take reasonable security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described or as required by law. When information is no longer needed, we will securely delete or anonymize it.
7. Your Rights
Under PIPA, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, and withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@drbotezelli.com. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Children's Privacy
Our Service is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
